The Eurovignette has been upgraded. – With effect from 01 October 2008, the current paper Eurovignette will be replaced by the e-Vignette (a new electronic system) which will be valid in the following countries: Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Denmark and Sweden.

Contrary to the paper vignette, all relevant vehicle data relating to the e-Vignette will be saved in the corresponding motorway company’s database and thus may be recalled at any time. Consequently, in the future the driver will not need to carry any paper documents along.

Validity of the current Eurovignette
The paper Eurovignette will be available until 30 September 2008. Its validity period is shown on the vignette, which means that an annual Eurovignette bought in August 2008 will be valid until August 2009.

What will change?
If your driver purchases an e-Vignette at a point of sale, with effect from 01 October 2008 he will no longer receive the usual Eurovignette document but a receipt confirming payment of the e-Vignette. The e-Vignette data will be saved in a centralised database operated by the corresponding motorway company, and thus may be recalled for control purpose, if required.

Scale of validity periods
The scale of validity periods of the new e-Vignette varies from one day to one year.

Order via UTA
Everything remains unchanged: You order your vignette as usual, and UTA will book the correct vignette for you (either Eurovignette or e-Vignette, depending on the beginning of the validity period).

• Even if you do not dispose of a UTA Card for a specific vehicle, it is nevertheless possible to order the corresponding e-Vignette fast and easily via UTA.
• Moreover, the electronic data record, which represents the e-Vignette, will be fraud and forgery-proof and thus cannot get lost or stolen.
• All e-Vignette transactions will be stated in your UTA invoice.

Verification of vignette bookings
In the future, your driver will not have to carry a paper document along, since verification of the correct vignette booking will be effected electronically. The vehicle registration number of the vehicle used will be compared with the vignette data saved in the motorway company’s database. Consequently, the vehicle will not be stopped for vignette control and thus allows a convenient and time saving handling.
