Toll Service/Slovakia

Registration for electronic toll settlement in Slovakia is now possible!

With effect from 01 January 2010, the vignette in Slovakia will be replaced by a new system via satellite. All buses and trucks with a gross vehicle weight of over 3.5 tons will be subject to tolls. Then tolls for these vehicles will have to be settled by means of an on-board-unit (OBU) which must be attached to the windscreen.

Which routes are subject to tolls?
A list of all routes which are subject to tolls is available here.

Which are the rates and the costs incurred?
The toll operating company Skytoll requests a deposit of 50.—EUR per device. The deposit can either be settled in cash when collecting the device, or by bank transfer after the device has been ordered.

Toll rates depend on the route travelled, pollutant category and the number of axles of the vehicle. For exact calculation of toll fees, please use the toll calculator made available on the toll operating company’s homepage.

How to register your vehicles?
UTA offers two types of contracts for settlement of Slovakian toll transactions: post-pay and pre-pay. Please feel free to decide which possibility is the most convenient for your company.

The post-pay procedure
Your vehicles are travelling in Slovakia on a regular basis – in this case we recommend the post-pay procedure, to be able to benefit from your liquidity advantage, due to the fact that toll fees will be invoiced in your next UTA invoice.

Order your post-pay OBU here and choose from two possibilities: dispatch of device or collection of device at distribution point:

You may order your vehicle devices easily and fast via our Customer Service Centre

or you may complete the following forms and send them to the address indicated below.

1. Please complete the following contractual documents to register your company:

Up to 30 days, the post-pay OBU can be connected to the cigarette lighter of your vehicle, by means of a power supply unit. Subsequently it is mandatory to visit a repair shop authorised by the toll operating company and to have it solidly installed (with costs).

The pre-pay procedure
In this case, you can top up your OBU with a certain amount (minimum of 50.—EUR, maximum of 600.-- EUR) before starting your journey and then “spend” it (settlement is possible by means of your UTA Card). The toll operating company Skytoll requests a deposit in the amount of 50.—EUR per device, which must be paid in cash at the distribution point. The pre-pay OBU device is connected to the cigarette lighter of the vehicle, by means of a power supply unit. The pre-pay OBU can be connected to the cigarette lighter of your vehicle, by means of a power supply unit.

The following possibilities are offered on site:

  • Contact points
    - Direct registration for post-pay procedure (for direct registration in Slovakia it is, in addition, required to present those documents indicated in the contract, page 4).
    - Collection of pre-pay OBU (to be topped up by means of your UTA Card)

  • Distribution points
    - Collection of post-pay OBU (order via UTA)
    - Collection of pre-pay OBU (to be topped up by means of your UTA Card)

Ticketing
At selected distribution points at border crossings it is now possible to obtain tickets for specific transit routes in Slovakia and thus settle tolls. The said ticket is vehicle-related (licence plate number) and it is not transferable. The ticket applies to vehicles of over 3.5 tons (buses/coaches and trucks) and is valid for 18 hours after booking. For further details, please click here.
