The toll system in Austria
Important information as of the 1st January 2010 |
Toll registration: The toll is registered, controlled and invoiced via an obligatory, so-called GO-Box. This box is an electronic transmitter/receiver that communicates with some 800 planned toll bridges along the relevant routes, advising the control body whether the toll is being paid correctly, i.e. whether the GO-Box has been properly activated. | ![]() |

The GO-Box is about the size of a cigarette packet and can be easily attached by the driver using the adhesive strip delivered with the unit. You can order the GO-Box for your verhicles via the order form you can find here! Just fill in your company's and vehicles' data comfortably on the screen, print out the form and then send it, stamped and signed, back to us via our order-hotline 00 800 / 88 26 83 62. The Go-Boxes will be sent to you directly by the Austrian toll operator ASFINAG. If you already dispose of a Go-Box and wish to benefit of UTA's Invoicing Service, please complete this form and fax it to the free of charge hotline 00 800 / 88 26 83 62. Toll payment: Payment can be made using a pre- or post pay procedure. In both cases, the GO-Box itself is free of charge as it will stay property of ASFINAG, the Austrian toll operator. However, EUROPPASS will charge an administrative fee of € 5 per GO-Box for initialisation. |
