Important safety information!
In the light of recent events, we want to draw your attention to the fact that, recently there has been an increasing number of theft of fuel cards. At present, the areas mainly concerned are Southern Germany, Austria and France.
The delinquents proceed strategically and break into vehicles (passenger’s side) which are parked on the company’s premises or at the roadside. At first sight, there are no obvious signs that someone has broken into the vehicle.
Usually, the fuel card and/or service card is not stolen but copied (the card itself remains in the vehicle), or the card is replaced by another stolen card, issued by the same card company. In such cases, the incident (stolen card), and thus the theft of the card data, will only be noticed much later.
We kindly ask you to verify your UTA Service Cards carefully, if you have noticed that someone broke into one of your vehicles, and to have the relevant card blocked immediately. In such cases, it must be assumed that the delinquent broke into the vehicle to acquire the card data and to subsequently use these for fraudulent card transactions.
Moreover, we would like to inform you that, according to our valid General Terms and Conditions, it is not allowed to leave UTA service cards in the vehicle.
Should you dispose of any information regarding this type of incidents, we kindly ask you to inform your competent UTA subsidiary immediately.
Additional safety information!
We want to inform you about the fact that recently the number of card fraud cases has been increasing especially in Southern Germany, Austria aand France.
The delinquents proceed systematically and use mobile card terminals to create card transactions at Italian service stations. False “members of the service station personnel” pretend that there are problems with processing the transaction and request the card details and the PIN code from the drivers. They use the card data to rapidly create card copies, which will subsequently be used for fraudulent card transactions.
In case of any doubt, please immediately and solely contact the service station personnel at the cashier’s desk! The PIN code MUST NOT at all be given to any third person!
