UTA provides fast and effective relief for OBU delivery problems in Belgium

Kleinostheim – 8th April 2016. The new truck toll in Belgium took effect with considerable start-up problems on 1st April 2016. Technical problems and delivery bottlenecks at the On-Board Unit (OBU) of the Belgian toll operator Satellic caused resentment among and substantial delays for drivers and forwarders.  "Waiting times have serious effects on costs at freight forwarders," Volker Huber stated, Managing Director of UNION TANK Eckstein GmbH & Co. KG (UTA). "Consequently, we have created a fast, effective solution for our customers and established short mobile transfer stations at ten busy border crossings.” With great success! From March 31st to April 8th, thousands of UTA card holders were provided help in obtaining their Satellic box.  

"The priority for UTA is to support freight forwarders and their drivers fast and practically," Volker Huber explained. For this reason the customers of the fuel and service card provider were supported in recent days not only at OBU service stations, but also by teams from the main office in Kleinostheim and other European countries to minimize the loss of time. The support ranged from technical assistance to logistics as well as to reservations of boxes for delivery to the UTA service stations. In the meantime, however, the OBU edition works better at the Satellic service points along the Belgian borders. "The demand has decreased noticeably. Therefore, we have decided to end our relief operation on the ground." UTA had already reduced the number of its mobile transfer stations gradually in recent days.

To obtain an OBU at the Satellic service points, only a fast-track registration and a deposit of 135 euros per unit are required. In addition, the box can also be obtained from the Road User Portal at the Satellic website.
